Questions buyers ask

What does DOT-406 mean on a fuel truck?
DOT 406 is the U.S. Department of Transportation specification for cargo tanks that carry flammable and combustible liquids such as gasoline and diesel at low pressure. It replaced the MC-306 specification for tanks manufactured after August 31, 1995. MC-306 tanks already in service can stay in service as long as they pass their periodic tests and inspections.
Do I need a CDL to drive a fuel truck?
A truck with a gross vehicle weight rating over 26,000 pounds requires a commercial driver license. Hauling placarded quantities of fuel also requires the hazardous materials (H) and tank vehicle (N) endorsements, which combine as the X endorsement. Smaller units under 26,001 pounds GVWR can be driven without a CDL, but the hazmat rules still apply to the load.
How do I list a fuel truck on Fuel Truck Exchange?
Text five photos and the VIN to (865) 564-7444 or email them to sell@fueltruckexchange.com. We write the listing, you approve it, and it goes live. Listing is free during the launch period and your phone number never appears on the site.
