- What is the difference between a PTO pump and a hydraulic pump on a fuel truck?
- A PTO pump is driven mechanically from the truck transmission through a power take-off. A hydraulic pump is driven by a hydraulic motor, which allows the pump to sit anywhere on the truck and run at a controlled speed. Both are common on refined fuel trucks; which one a truck has affects what replacement pump fits it.
- Can a used fuel truck tank be remounted on a different chassis?
- Yes. Tank remounts are a standard job: the tank is removed, inspected and tested, and mounted on a newer chassis with new sub-frame and plumbing. The tank keeps its specification plate and inspection history, so its test dates carry over to the new truck.
